Over 200 species of birds have been seen at Batiquitos Lagoon at different times of the year. There's a great website that has all kinds of bird info: https://ebird.org. People can download an app from there to their phone to help while out in the field birding.

Let’s start our brief story 150 million years ago, during the Jurassic Period of the Mesozoic Era, the Age of Dinosaurs. This was the height of the dinosaurs’ development; they reached their maximum size at this time. They lived all over this and many other continents.
Lagoons serve as breeding and nursery areas for a wide array of coastal fish, provide habitat and food for resident species and serve as feeding areas for seasonal species.
